The Igbo Studies Association wishes to remind members, presenters, and participants that the ISA 2026 Conference begins next week. As preparations enter the final stage, all members and conference participants are encouraged to review the following important announcements regarding membership, registration fees, the conference program, in-person attendance, publication opportunities, and payment information.

Active Membership and Participation in the Business Meeting

Members are kindly reminded that active ISA membership requires payment of annual membership dues. Only members whose annual membership is active will be eligible to participate in voting and decision-making during the Business Meeting.

All members are therefore encouraged to confirm their membership status and complete any outstanding membership payments before the conference.

Membership categories and conference fees are available on the ISA membership page:
https://igbostudies.org/shop/

Conference Registration Fees for Presenters

All members who submitted abstracts are required to pay the conference registration fee for their abstracts to be included in the final conference program.

Please note that each presenter, including co-presenters, is required to pay the conference registration fee individually. This means that where a paper has more than one presenter, each listed presenter must complete their own registration payment.

Participants who intend to pay on or before the conference date should email the conference organizers as soon as possible to confirm their payment intention. This will help ensure that their papers can be scheduled in the program.

In-Person Attendance and Conference Planning

Participants who will be attending the conference in person are kindly asked to notify the organizers. This information is important for planning purposes, especially for catering, seating, logistics, and assigning volunteer roles where participants may be willing to assist.

If you are attending in person and are available to support the conference in any capacity, please indicate your availability when contacting the organizers.

Conference Program

The final preliminary conference program will be circulated by Tuesday, May 5, 2026, before it goes to print.

All presenters are asked to review their names, paper titles, affiliations, and session details carefully. Corrections should be sent no later than Wednesday, May 6, 2026.

After this deadline, the program will be finalized and sent for printing. The tentative program can also be downloaded from the conference page:
https://igbostudies.org/conference/conferences/isa-2026/

Unmatched Payments

There are still a few payments that could not be matched to specific names. If you submitted an abstract and completed payment but do not see your name in the program, please contact Dr. Nwokoye immediately so the organizers can confirm whether your payment is among the anonymous or unmatched entries.

This is the final attempt to resolve unmatched payments and ensure that all eligible abstracts are included in the program.

Publication Opportunity

Presenters who would like their papers to be considered for publication in Igbo Studies Association Review or in a proposed edited book volume are strongly encouraged to submit their full manuscripts by May 31, 2026.

Manuscripts should be sent to:
[email protected]

Authors are encouraged to submit polished, complete manuscripts that follow appropriate academic formatting and citation standards.

Adverts and Goodwill Messages

The ISA is currently accepting adverts and goodwill messages for inclusion in the conference program. Individuals, organizations, institutions, and supporters who wish to place adverts or goodwill messages should contact Dr. Nwokoye no later than May 6, 2026.

This is an opportunity to support the conference while promoting institutions, programs, businesses, publications, community organizations, or personal goodwill messages.
