Happy International Women’s Day 2021
Today, March 8, 2021, as the world has done yearly since February 28, 1909, we celebrate the cultural, social, political, economic, intellectual, and professional achievements, along with the attendant and intersecting issues and problems, of women at all levels of life across the globe. With the #ChooseToChallenge, the 2021 theme of events, are highlighted the enormous changes and challenges that the COVID-19 pandemic has brought on individual lives in particular, and on the world in general, transitioning usual physical festival activities to virtual events that now include online and Zoom meetings and interactions on virtually anything and everything possible under the sun.
To wit, then, we are also called upon to accelerate and put into reality the notion of gender parity for a better humanity, for as the women’s website put it inter alia and succinctly, “A challenged world is an alert world. We can all choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequality.”
Let us all at ISA, therefore, in our thoughts and actions, inspire individuals, groups, and institutions---sports and media, workplaces, schools and universities, churches, healthcare facilities, and governments—to change and challenge biases, stereotypes, and fixed opinions about women and men around the globe.
Ya gazie nu o!
