Christmas Message to Igbo Studies Association
Christmas Eve Message to ISA, December 24, 2017
Dear ISA Members,
You certainly have heard me say again and again what a great honor and privilege it is for me to lead our great association, the Igbo Studies Association of America. At a time like this, it is exhilarating for me to give this 2017 Christmas message to you.
Christmastide recalls the fundamental message that Christ died for us, hence our human interconnections no matter our location on the globe, the dignity of human life, the need for human love, and the hope that a Supreme Being much greater than us can always take over when we are no longer able to continue on the road of life alone.
As we swap gifts with our loved ones in mutual exchange of loving care, let us not forget the suffering and the needy in all their facets in domestic and public spheres, in our immediate communities and around the world. Let us remember to take our neighbors as ourselves and take care of one another.
As we light the Christmas tree in our homes this season, let us see it as a symbol of peace, love, unity, and goodwill towards all peoples, for the Christmas spirit is that irresistible, ageless and knows neither bounds nor barriers …
Thank you very much for all you do as teachers of the youth, in service to the community inside and outside your university campuses, and professionally writing and publishing articles in academic journals and book chapters and books that students, faculty and the general public can access for knowledge and enlightenment. It is my hope that with classes and examinations ended now you will be able to spend quality time with the people who mean the most to you in your lives.
Take care and Merry Christmas and a Happy Upcoming 2018!
Dr. Mrs. Ada Uzoamaka Azodo
President, ISA (USA)
