This lecture will analyze the lyrics of some Igbo songs to see if the singers were communicating lessons of survival in the wake of the war that the people endured. Songs from mostly male singers will show that the Igbo should not continue mourning as Osadebe counseled even before the war. Are there differences between the lyrics of male and female artists? What message are the singers signifying by praising wealth and worship in Igbo Highlife Songs? The lecture makes a call for music and arts education to be part of the school curriculum to help our people to nurture even more talents while more recording studios should spring up to publish the composers.
